Vanessa Vanwesemael

Vanessa currently holds the position of AI Legal Advisor. She is an experienced lawyer in Information Technology Law and contracts, helping B12 Consulting to balance innovation with legal considerations. She provides guidance on AI development and compliance with EU digital regulations, and she also advises on a wide range of legal and contractual matters.

Prior to joining B12 Consulting, she worked for the European institutions, where she was involved in policy development and research supporting 5G and beyond, Internet of Things, cloud computing, data flows and next generation internet.

Before that, she held various positions as legal counsel in the IT, Media, and Telecommunications industries, advising companies on both contentious and non-contentious matters and negotiating commercial contracts in multinational environments. Vanessa began her career as an attorney at law, counseling and litigating on commercial, IP/IT, and Data Protection law.

She graduated from the Catholic University of Louvain in 2002 and participated in an Erasmus program at the Queen’s University of Belfast. She completed a LL.M in International Business Law and Intellectual Property Law at Cornell University in 2006.

Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys traveling and discovering places with stunning natural scenery.
